Taking medication can be such a hassle at times, but it's important nevertheless so don't ever let it slip your mind nor forget it when times are busy or because of excitement. If you have got a number of pills to take, regardless if they be medication, supplements or vitamins that needs to be taken on a daily basis, you don't have to lug all the bottles and packets with you all the time. In the cases of travelling, leave all the bottles at home but bring your medication with you in a travel pill organizer.
Yes, who says you can go for a holiday or travel when you are on heavy medication? Here is what a travel pill organizer can do for you:
1) Doesn't matter if you are on heavy medication
Travel pill organizers are simple casings that allow you to arrange your medication into the little compartments, so that you would be able to take one compartment per round. There are many different types of pill organizers, ranging from a dose a day to four doses a day. The size also varies, so you are able to buy a weekly pill organizer or a monthly one too. In addition to that, based on the size of your pills you can choose the compartment size as well. Depending on the number of times you have to take your pills in a day, invest in a pill organizer and then fill it up accordingly.
2) Easy to use and light
These travel pill organizes are very easy to use and they are light enough for you to slip into your bag before your business trip or relaxing getaway. The most commonly used pill organizers is the two a day weekly boxes. They are able to contain a week's worth of medication to be dispensed twice a day and the boxes are marked with the days of the week, making sure you take the right pills at the right time. The top row of boxes has got 'a.m' marked on it while the bottom row has got 'p.m' marked on it to indicate the morning and evening slots. This is a great help if there are different medications for different times of the day.
3) Well-designed for travel purpose
The containers are plastic and designed in a very simple manner. The day and time labels are printed in bold on a colored lid, but the lids are all transparently colored so that the pills can be seen through the casing. This will help you figure out if you have taken the medication or missed a dose, without opening the lid.
In addition to that, most of the cases that are bought from the store have got individual lids on each compartment. The individual lid serves a purpose of making sure that you don't take the wrong dose, the pills don't get mixed up and it also prevents the pills from falling out. The container has a slightly rounded bottom so that it's easy to remove the pills from the bottom. If exposed to high heat, the pills might stick to the bottom of the casing, but they can be removed with a gentle knock on the back of the box.
4) Inexpensive
For more sophisticated casings, there are those that come with a scheduled timetable, leather casings, push button drawer box, blister pill organizer cards and so on. The most basic one is priced between 5 to 8 USD while more sophisticated ones are priced between 8 to 60 USD, depending on the type of travel box you choose.

Pharmacy Frugality: How to Save Money on Your Prescriptions
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Catherine_Rucker]Catherine Rucker
What if I told you that you could get your medication for FREE? You would probably not believe me or ask "Whats the catch?" With our economy in a downward spiral, many Americans are having to choose between food on the table or life saving medications. I want to offer some insider tips on how to get your medications while on a budget. By using the information I am listing below, you and your loved ones will not have to worry about being able to afford your medications.
The first step is to speak to your doctor about your financial concerns about your medication. There are many alternatives out on the market that doctors may choose from to treat many conditions. If you share your concerns with your doctor he or she will be more likely to choose to prescribe a generic drug. On average, you can save at least 80% by using the generic form of a drug versus the brand name. If your doctor does prescribe a medication that does not have a generic, ask him or her is there any other medication that might be available in generic that would treat your condition.
ASK FOR SAMPLES! I can not stress enough, that you should always ask for samples. Some doctors are very good about giving out samples, while others may not think about it. Doctors see on average 10 to 20 sales representatives a week. These representatives are trying to sell their products and usually give the office staff samples to give to patients. Many offices have a dedicated closet for samples. It never hurts to ask if the office have samples of the medication your doctor has prescribed for you.
While you are asking for samples, you should also ask if there are any coupons available as well. Coupons can save you tons of money and can even bring your co pay down to $0. Yes, you read right, FREE! Many doctors will give out coupons more frequently than samples but you have to ask. When you finally get to the pharmacy with your prescription in one hand and your coupon in the other, let the pharmacy staff know that you have a coupon when you are dropping off your prescription. This easy step will save you and the pharmacy staff time.
I will go into more detail in future post so stay tuned for more money-saving tips!

Forskolin - Ayurvedic Drug With a Lot of Potential
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tom_Billmore]Tom Billmore
Coleonol or Forskolin is a chemical found in the roots of Coleus forskohlii, an Indian Coleus plant. It was first studied in 1974 by scientists from Central Drug Research Institute of India and Hoechst India in screening programs that examined medicinal plants mainly for cardiovascular activity. Apart from being used to raise cyclic AMP (cAMP) levels in study and research of cell philosophy, Forskolin has been used since ancient times to treat high blood pressure, heart disorders and angina and at times respiratory disorders like asthma. Coming back to cell research, Coleonol activates the enzyme adenylyl cyclase and increases intracellular levels of cAMP thereby re-sensitizing cell receptors.
A signal carrier is necessary for better responsiveness between cells to hormones and also other extracellular signals. cAMP is the signal carrier. Hormones' feedback control and cell communication in hypothalamus/pituitary gland axis is possible because of cAMP as it activates protein kinase A. In the field of healthcare, Forskolin, when taken by mouth can be used to treat allergies and other skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Other medical conditions treated are irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, menstrual problems, bladder infections, urinary tract infections, blood clots, insomnia, convulsions, sexual problems in men, and also advanced cases of cancer. Forskolin can also be applied intravenously during heart failure. Forskolin powder is said to be very effective for asthma.
Glaucoma has been treated with Forskolin drops. Extracts from Coleus forskohlii are being used by herbal product manufacturers too and being promoted to spread awareness about its use though conclusive, reliable scientific information upholding the medical benefits of Forskolin (when taken by mouth) are not currently available. A lot of research is currently being undertaken worldwide. Forskolin produces powerful heartbeat and widens blood vessels thereby lowering blood pressure. It works on the heart muscles and walls of blood vessels. It acts as a vasodilator. One can find the drug over the counter in liquid form or as pills. Dosages vary depending on the medical condition. Most commonly used dosages are - 125mg coleus forskohlii herbal extract offering 12.5mg of Forskolin and 50mg coleus forskohlii herbal extract offering 9mg of Forskolin. Research is limited to the dosages for different conditions.
0.2%-0.3% is typically the Forskolin content in coleus root. Thus, it can be seen that the Forskolin content in crude coleus products may not be sufficient for treating advanced medical conditions as they might not produce the desired pharmacological effect. Concentrated Forskolin as found in standardized products are best to use where various extract potencies of Coleus forskohlii like the 10% Forskolin, 18% Forskolin and 20% Forskolin are available. However, all the potencies have not yet been tested; so it's impossible to say which potency is best to use.

Forskolin Is the New Age Drug Wonder
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tom_Billmore]Tom Billmore
Forskolin is an extract from the plant Coleus forskohli, which has been traditionally used in ayurvedic medicines for a variety of ailments and conditions. The conditions basically, for which It is used are hypertension, asthma, congestive heart failure, psoriasis, eczema and angina. The effects of the medicated extract have been extensively used in human, animal clinical studies and also the in-vitro technology greatly relies on this extract. It basically works primarily by activating various enzymes in cyclic AMP in cells. Cyclic AMP is one of the most crucial cell regulating compounds.
Forskolin is able to activate various other enzymes with the able assistance of neuro-transmitters and other hormones. Over the years it has been medically proven that it's a platelets aggregation inhibitor, it also relaxes the vascular smooth muscles. It further reduces the intra-ocular pressure due to glaucoma. It is also known to have anti-allergy potential since it inhibits the release of histamine and peptide leukotriene from human basophiles and mast cells. Perhaps the most important benefit of this extract is that, it also considered a potent inhibitor of cancer metastasis, when it was injected in mice with the malignant tissues.
In a study, in psychiatry, researchers gave this drug as an intravenous to four depression patients and five schizophrenic patients. Astoundingly all four patients showed transient mood elevation or stimulation, as did two of the five schizophrenic patients. Forskolin ocular drops have been used to reduce the intra-ocular pressure due to glaucoma. Further it can reduce blood pressure and work as anti-allergic supplement or bronchodilator. It also works as a vasoactive agent which enables smooth muscle relaxation. It has a safe effect on the patients with similar vascular impotence. Traditionally this fruit extract was used to treat Insomnia, convulsions, heart and lung diseases. But, unfortunately this blissful extract comes with its own set of side effects.
Low blood pressure is the biggest evident side effect, which causes the patient to be dizzy, nauseated, blurred vision, pale skin, reduced concentration, fatigue and loss of consciousness. Severe low blood pressure prevents the vital organs of the body to get proper oxygen supply causing hypotension. This can cause severe heart and brain damage if ignored. Forskolin dose can cause tachycholin which is nothing but the state of elevated heart beat. Patient might feel lightheadedness, shortness of breath, chest pains, heart palpitations, rapid pulse or loss of consciousness. The dangerous aspects of this are blood clots, heart burns, frequent fainting and sudden death.
There are also instances of increased stomach acid levels due to regular intake of forskolin. People with pre-existing gastro-intestinal complication might be susceptible to heart burns, indigestion and nausea. Concomitant usages of this plant extract along with prescribed blood thinners may add up to bleeding complications, further it is routinely warned by the experts not to take this medicated plant extract with anti-hypertensive, which would significantly reduce the blood pressure.

Reversing Gray Hair Naturally
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tom_Simeo]Tom Simeo
Premature graying of hair is a common problem many people are coping with. If you are also facing this situation, find an effective and permanent solution that not only reverses gray hair but makes them healthy and lustrous as well.
Gray hair is the second most feared sign of aging, of course wrinkles top the list. That's why people try a number of hair treatments to retain their natural hair color. These treatments include hair dyes, the most common and preferred solution to the problem. Hair dyes cover the grays but damage them in many ways, not to mention the harm they pose to your health. Instead of using chemicals that provide a temporary solution, fixing the problem at its core is more beneficial and has lasting results. For that, you have to learn of the main cause for graying hair.
Losing the original hair color is often associated with age but many people face this problem as early as in their twenties. The reason for graying is because of the lack of an enzyme known as catalase in the individual's body. Though the catalase level starts to drop as people age, some people face the deficiency at a young age. When catalase level starts to drop in the body, hydrogen peroxide starts building up which bleaches hair.
Catalase enzyme breaks down hydrogen peroxide consistently, eliminating its effects on your hair which makes the enzyme the key solution to reverse gray hair. Unlike hair dyes, catalase enzyme works from the root; not only does it bring back the natural hair color, but also assists in retaining the color while making your hair lustrous and healthy. You no longer have to visit hair salons that are time consuming and costly; instead, get enough of the catalase enzyme to naturally get your hair color back.
To increase the level of catalase enzyme in your body, you have to include products that have been formulated using the catalase enzyme. Widely known as vitamin solutions, products that contain catalase enzyme are selling very well. Vitamin solutions are natural and contain no harmful substances that may affect your health plus they are available at affordable prices. Other than the primary catalase ingredient, a variety of minerals and herbal additives are included to make your hair youthful.
If you have been wondering how to stop grey hair, try the vitamin solutions and notice a difference within weeks. Conducting an online search will assist you in locating an effective catalase infused vitamin solution that will naturally reverse gray hair with a money saving offer. Several companies even offer a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the results.
And speaking of results, they vary from one individual to another, based on the existing level of catalase in the body. If you already have a noticeable amount, it won't take long to get your natural hair color back whereas little catalase present in the body will color hair slowly.
Don't hide the grays with dyes, reverse them with inexpensive and effective vitamin products. Powered with catalase enzyme and other herbal products, these vitamins have a long lasting effect on your hair without damaging it.

Know the Side Effects, Dosages, and Usages of Your Anxiety Medication
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Hollis]Adam Hollis
Clonazepam Side Effects, Dosages, and Usage.
Clonazepam (promoted under the brand name Klonopin in the US) is a prescription medication sanctioned for use in treating seizure disorders in adults and children of all ages, along with panic disorders in adults. It's also employed "off-label" as a remedy for insomnia, alcohol withdrawal, Parkinson's symptoms, schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and RLS (restless leg syndrome).
Clonazepam belongs to a styleof substances known as benzodiazepines. Every benzodiazepines work by enhancing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a brain chemical that is naturally calming. GABA reduces nerve cell activity to induce relaxation and decrease nerve excitement. This variety of drugs are known as tranquilizers, sedatives, and central nervous system (CNS) depressants.
Clonazepam is also increasingly being used recreationally because of its sedative tendencies. Those who take the drug fight the urge to sleep report general feeling of euphoria as well as visual and auditory hallucinations. It also is commonly taken with large amounts of alcohol and induces a "blackout effect", people with have no recollection of any activities they've been engaged in for up to 12 hours.
Clonazepam comes in two varieties- as a tablet or as an orally disintegrating tablet. Swallow the basic tablet intact with a glass of water. To take the clonazepam orally disintegrating tablet place it in your mouth and permit it to dissolve without chewing. Swallowing several times might be required as the tablet dissolves, a liquid may be ingested to assist with the swallowing.
Initial dosage for adults being treated for seizure disorders should not exceed 1.5mg/day separated among three doses. The dosage can be increased in increments of 0.5 - 1mg every three days until seizures are under satisfactory control, or until the side effects preclude any further increase. The maximum suggested daily dose is 20mg per twenty four hours.
The aimed-for dose for the majority of adult patients using clonazepam for the treatment of panic disorders is 1mg daily. This dosage was determined by a fixed dose study where the outcome fount that d the optimal desired result transpired at 1mg per day. Doses of 2, 3, and 4mg per day were less effective, and amplified unwanted side effects. Some patients do find it necessary for bigger doses to attain relief, and in those cases the dosage is upped 0.125 to 0.25mg every three days until the panic disorder is controlled. Initial dosage for all patients starts at 0.25mg per day and is increased by that same amount every three days until the target of 1mg is reached.
Usual side effects normally include tiredness, dizziness, impaired memory, and slurred speech. Serious side effects include hallucinations, no fear of danger, weak or shallow breathing, unusual or involuntary eye movements, pounding heartbeats, painful or difficult urination, pale skin, or new or worsening seizures. If you experience any of these call your doctor at once.
Disclaimer - The data conveyed here should never be interpreted as or substituted for medical advice. Please consult with a trained professional for additional information regarding Clonazepam.

Some Effective Home Remedies for Dry Cough
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Anamika_Swami]Anamika Swami
It is said that even the strongest of men are prone to the simple yet deadly trio of common cold, headaches and cough. And in terms of number of occurrences, common cold and headaches fight for the top slot but what makes cough dangerous is that most folks aren't prepared for this throat havoc. Cough in actual is our body's defensive reflex and this sudden and many a times repetitive reflex is to keep our airway clear for the purpose of proper breathing.
There is a small troubled sound and some mucus which come along with it. With pollution on the rise, there are many obstructions and irritations, courtesy microbes, secretions, irritants, foreign particles etc. which disturb the breathing process, hence cough is a natural method used to clear these obstructions, whenever they occur.
Causes of cough may be anyone or a combination of any of these aspects:
Respiratory tract infection
Choking
Smoking
Due to smoke when spices are burnt etc.
Also, coughing can be associated with the following diseases:
Asthma and bronchitis
Gastroesophageal reflux disease
Post-nasal drip
Chronic bronchitis
Lung tumors
Heart failures
There are certain medications like ACE inhibitors that can cause coughs as well. Cough or coughing (the process) can be voluntary or even involuntary but when its frequency increases, this calls for a disease. The other form of cough is dry cough where there is no mucus around. As during this phase, lungs would produce more and more sputum, this cough can worsen to become productive cough.
From cough drops to syrups, there are many medications available for dry cough but some of the most effective anti dry cough medicines are home based remedies. And these remedies work for people of all age groups and also provide remedies to symptoms like sore and dry throat conditions.
Take some turmeric paste and mix some carom seeds which have been soaked in water. Twice or thrice a day will give good results.
Soak some almonds, make a paste and add honey and consume it twice a day.
Onion juice may stink but helps cure dry throat.
Make some ginger juice, add some lemon drops and honey to make a small anti-dry cough drink.
Some teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day reduce the inflammation in your throat.
Combining betel leaves, basil leaves and some ginger and chewing it directly will help as well.
Spices like pepper and cloves taken directly or with honey have also shown good results.
Oranges in a way help during cough, apart from giving the set of vitamins and minerals.
Green tea with lemon or honey or even both has shown great results since ages.
Mix raisins and some sugar and take it directly or post heating for fighting dry cough.
Always be hydrated, so drink a good amount of water; this helps during the cough period.
Smash grapes and add some honey; drinking this mixture helps clearing the mucus from the lungs.
Milk with turmeric powder has also shown good results.
In addition, it is advised to avoid oily foods and dry coconut as they increase the soreness of throat. All the above methods have shown excellent results but in worse cases if the cough doesn't lessen, please visit your family doctor.

Linicin Head Lice Treatment
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Emilie_Cook]Emilie Cook
Get rid of unwanted head lice with Linicin head lice treatments
Head lice are tiny wingless insects that are grey-brown in colour. They are the size of a pinhead when they hatch and 3mm long (the size of a sesame seed) when fully grown. It cannot fly, jump or swim. It are spread by head-to-head contact and climb from the hair of an infected person to the hair of someone else.
A female head louse lays eggs by cementing them to hairs (often close to the root) where they will be kept warm by the scalp. The eggs are pinhead size and difficult to see. When the baby lice hatch seven to ten days later, the empty eggshells (nits) remain glued in place. Nits glisten white and become more noticeable as the growth of the hair carries them away from the scalp. Head lice feed by biting the scalp and sucking blood through it. They take six to ten days to become fully grown. Once mature, a head louse can transfer from head to head.
After mating, a female may start to lay eggs as early as the seventh day after she has hatched. So to break the life cycle and stop it spreading, they need to be removed from the head before the sixth day after hatching. Children are the most commonly affected by lice in head, although anyone with hair can catch them. Children are often affected by head lice because they tend to have more head-to-head contact while at school or during play.
Lice in your head can be effectively treated using medicated lotions or by wet combing, using a specially designed comb. The Linicin range, available online at chemist.net, gives you everything you need to get rid of head lice and keep them away. The Linicin range includes a simple 15 minute lotion that kills the lice and their larvae, and prevents the development of their eggs too. Alternatively, there is a shampoo that is effective in a quick 10 minute lice treatment. Plus, there is a spray which can stop you or your child from getting head lice in the first place.
Linicin 15 min Lotion contains 99% dimethicone, which blocks the lice's uptake of oxygen, thus suffocating them. This form of treatment means that the lice cannot build up any resistance to the product, unlike insecticidal treatments. Linicin 15 min Lotion is also suitable for the whole family and can be used on children from the age of 6 months, as well as by mothers during pregnancy and when breastfeeding. Linicin Shampoo 10 min is an efficient, non-toxic and mild shampoo that eliminates lice in head and impedes the development of nits. It is colourless with a neutral scent and can be used in adults and children from the age of two.
Linicin Shampoo 10 min is easy to use, works within 10 minutes and is rinsed out using lukewarm water only. Treatment needs to be repeated after 9-10 days. Linicin Prevent Spray is a head louse repellent, that prevents head lice infestation in an effective and safe way. It makes your hair 'invisible' to lice. Linicin Prevent Spray can be used on adults and children from the age of two. Linicin Prevent Spray is non-toxic and does not contain any insecticides so is safe to use every day during high risk periods. The spray is mild and colourless with a neutral scent; simply spray onto dry hair, no need to rinse out.

Navigating Medicare Part D
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Matthew_G_Young]Matthew G Young
Having the proper medical coverage is much more complex than it might seem. If you receive Medicare, your drugs are generally covered by Medicare Part D-this can be accomplished through Medicare directly, or through a pre-approved private company.
Before you begin or cease any new sort of coverage, you need to make sure you know the repercussions of what you are doing. If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan through a private insurer, also called Medicare Part C, when you enroll in a prescription drug plan (Part D), you might be kicked out of your Medicare Part C plan. This is only the case if your Medicare Advantage plan has a prescription drug plan attached to it.
Another thing to take into account is the enrollment period for Medicare. October 15th through December 7th is open enrollment. If you are eligible for Medicare, you can join switch or drop coverage. The change will go into effect on January 1st.
If you are just eligible for Medicare and want to sign up for a prescription drug plan, you have a seven month period in which to join. Three months before your 65th birthday, the month of your birthday, and the following three months is when you can join. If you miss this enrollment period and sign up for coverage late, you might be responsible for late enrollment fees.
There are a few exceptions to this. Special enrollment periods include if you move outside of your plan's service area, you are put in a nursing home, or if you lose other credible coverage. You may change, add, or drop coverage whenever these things occur.
The downside to this is that Medicare Part D has costs associated with it. There is a monthly premium that you are responsible for, as well as deductibles and co-pays. Some insurers are equipped to deduct your monthly premium directly through your social security check each month, thus saving you paperwork and energy.
In addition to the costs of having the plan, you need to know what things cost under the plan. Each plan, be it straight Medicare or a private insurer, has a specific formulary of which drugs they cover and to what degree. If you take multiple medications, you need to remember that all plans are not created equal. Some drugs will cost more through some plans while they are cheap through another. Ensure that the plan you ultimately choose will be covering any medications that you might take.
